A super-hero is really a fictional character – normally an adventurer or vigilante of some sort – with superhuman powers or expertise (physical, mental or spiritual in nature), whose exploits are chronicled nearly totally in comic publications or other media adaptations of these people comic book adventures. They are normally children’s cartoons, but many super-hero movies are introduced inside past 10 many years.

“Heroes Evolutions” is a digital extension of the hit show that aims to further explore the Heroes universe and mythology. NBC Senior Producer Joe Tolerico is just one of the individuals who work hard to constantly develop the monumental project.

“We strive to make sure that there is something for all of the Heroes fans on a regular basis and work closely with the show to make sure that online storylines cross paths with those on-air in unexpected ways,” Tolerico said in a conversation with Heroes Wiki. “We also like to keep all the plates spinning on the different platforms as much as possible.”

Serving as the project manager for “Heroes Evolutions,” Tolerico notes that he works with a well-oiled team to keep the sites updates and running smoothly at all times.

“It really ‘takes a village,’” he said. “There are many people who work on ‘Heroes Evolutions.’ For some it is suggestions of storylines, for others it is producing new and original video pieces and for still others it’s about negotiating deals with great comic book writers! All in all there are about 20 people who touch the product in one way or another.”

In fact, the online Heroes content was originally known as “Heroes 360,” but Tolerico and his team decided to change the name to make it more representative of their goals.

“360 is so 2006!… In all honesty the term was used to help us explain to executives how all encompassing we can be, and how we can tie into the show and online,” he explained. “So when we sat down this fall and started brainstorming ideas for Season 2, we all came up with a list of names and sent them up the ladder for review. ‘Evolutions’ was agreed upon as the closest description of what we were aiming to accomplish: a gradual process in which something changes into a different, and usually more complex or better form.”

As for the near future, Tolerico said that there will be more “show integration” and crossovers. He said, “We’d like to have more characters from the show interfacing with fans.”

In the fall of 2008, NBC Digital Entertainment released a series of online content for the summer, including more original web content, wireless iTV interactivity, graphic novels available for mobile viewing and webisodes.

Heroes includes a number of mysterious fictional recurring elements that have been ascribed to science fiction or supernatural phenomena. Tim Kring and the creators of the series refer to these fictional elements as part of the mythology of the series. Kring confirmed that although the show does have a unique mythology, he does not want to sink too deeply into it. Rather, Kring has used volumes to wrap up ongoing plot lines, rather than carrying storylines over long periods of time, as in Lost.  As far as the overall mythology of the series, Kring said, “we have talked about where the show goes up to five seasons.” As far as the show’s ending date, Kring has commented that, “This show doesn’t posit an ending…” The show does not have a designated ending point and is “open-ended.

In its inaugural season, Heroes featured twelve main characters. During the first season, the Heroes cast page listed ten characters among the cast; Leonard Roberts arrived later, and Jack Coleman was promoted to series regular as of the eleventh episode.

For the second season of the show, Santiago Cabrera, Tawny Cypress, and Leonard Roberts left the main cast. Zachary Quinto and James Kyson Lee, who were recurring characters in the first season, were added to the main cast for the second season, and were joined by new cast members David Anders, Kristen Bell, Dania Ramírez, and Dana Davis. Anders was originally to be a recurring character, but was promoted to a series regular prior to the start of the season. He is credited as a guest star for the first four episodes of season two.

For the third season, Cristine Rose, recurring in the first two seasons, was promoted to series regular. Kristen Bell, David Anders, and Noah Gray-Cabey were no longer regulars and became guest cast. Additionally, Dana Davis was no longer part of the main cast, with scenes involving her in the third season cut.

For the fourth season, a new character Samuel Sullivan (portrayed by Robert Knepper) has been added. Originally cast as a recurring part, the part has been changed to a starring role.

Unlike most series, each main cast member is only credited for the episode he/she appears in.
